Sankashti means deliverance from trouble. Devotees fast through the day, worship Ganesha in the evening with durva and modak, and break the fast after sighting the moon. Each month's Sankashti honours a different form of Ganesha, and one that falls on a Tuesday is Angaraki Chaturthi, the most auspicious.
