Holi 2026होली

Hindu date: The day after Phalguna Purnima, as Chaitra begins.

Holi, the day of colours (Dhulandi), is the morning after Holika Dahan.

Dates are calculated for New Delhi. In other cities, and especially outside India, the tithi changes at a different local time, so a festival can fall a day earlier or later. Month names follow the Purnimanta calendar used in North India, where a month ends on Purnima. How we calculate

Holi celebrates spring and the playful love of Radha and Krishna. In Braj it lasts for days: Lathmar Holi in Barsana and Nandgaon, flower Holi in Vrindavan's temples, and colour across Mathura.

It is also a social festival. People visit friends and neighbours, old quarrels are set aside, and homes make gujiya, malpua and thandai.
