Durga Puja 2026दुर्गा पूजा

Hindu date: Ashwin Shukla Shashthi to Dashami.

It is kept on the day that tithi is current at sunrise.

Dates are calculated for New Delhi. In other cities, and especially outside India, the tithi changes at a different local time, so a festival can fall a day earlier or later. Month names follow the Purnimanta calendar used in North India, where a month ends on Purnima. How we calculate

On Shashthi the Goddess is invoked (Kalparambha and Bodhon). On Saptami morning the Navpatrika, nine plants tied together as the Kola Bou, is bathed and installed. The junction of Ashtami and Navami is marked by the Sandhi Puja with 108 lamps and lotuses, and on Dashami married women play sindoor khela before the idols are immersed (Durga Visarjan).
