About Hartalika Teej· महत्व
Parvati's father had promised her to Vishnu, so her friend carried her into the forest, where she made a linga of sand and worshipped Shiva until he accepted her. Married women keep the fast for their husbands' wellbeing and unmarried girls for a good husband.
The fast is usually kept without water through the day and night, with clay images of Shiva and Parvati worshipped in the evening, and is broken the next morning.
